The Career Trek programs are career exploration initiatives that allow students to travel to various cities in order to gain insight into career fields of interest. These immersive experiences provide behind the scenes opportunities for students to engage with an organization, shadow professionals in the workplace, learn about various career paths, meet with Notre Dame alumni, and more. The Career Center will offer seven industry specific treks this Fall Break 2017 to Boston, Chicago, New York, San Francisco, and Washington, DC.

Fall Break 2017 Career Treks
This Career Trek to Boston is open to Notre Dame students who are juniors or seniors, in the College of Engineering or College of Science, who have a passion for working in the biotech/pharma industry. Boston is the #1 hub in the US for development in this industry. The Career Center will be taking 6 students on this Trek to shadow professionals in the workplace, learn day to day operations, discuss specific jobs and career paths within each organization, and network with local alumni. This Career Trek is open to sophomores, juniors and seniors of any major passionate about entering the advertising field. The Career Center will accept 6 students from the application pool to participate. This immersive experience has been organized by the Career Center with the support of an advertising network group of agencies named Elevated Chicago. This Sports Trek to Chicago allows students to visit a number of organizations within the sports industry to learn all aspects of business operations. After an interview process, The Career Center will select 6 students to participate on this trek. Each Trek visit is set up differently catering to the strengths of the organization lasting anywhere from 1-3 hours. Previous visits have included: US Soccer Federation, Chicago Bulls, Octagon Marketing, BTN, Chicago White Sox, Chicago Bears, and more. Apply via Go IRISH by 9/11/2017
This Tech Trek to California is open to Notre Dame students who have a passion for working in Silicon Valley and the Bay Area in the technology industry, primarily with the focus on software development. The Career Center will be selecting 6 students for this exploration experience to visit five to seven diverse organizations who hire technology entry-level roles and expose the participants to the range of opportunities available in the Bay Area. The Careers in Science DC Trek to Washington DC is open to sophomores, juniors, and seniors of Notre Dame in the College of Science who have a passion for working in a career that is related to their science degree but is not medical school or academia. In partnership with the College of Science, The Career Center will be accepting 6 students to participate in this inaugural experiential program. Apply via Go IRISH by 9/11/2017
This program will again be offered during Fall Break of 2017 and is open to sophomores, juniors, and seniors. It gives Notre Dame students a broad overview of some of the main industries in Washington DC. Students begin to understand how the industries differ, overlap, and connect in their separate functions while meeting and talking with Notre Dame Alumni about their current jobs, career paths, and the organizations in which they work. Students are able to compare and contrast job functions, day-to-day projects, and environment between the organizations visited. They connect with multiple alumni in DC in career areas such as public policy, think tanks, the Hill, lobbying, government consulting, international affairs, law, international development, and public relations.
