It is important to learn all that you can about potential areas of interest. The suggestions offered below will provide resources to help in this phase of your job search.
- Conduct Informational Interviewing to learn firsthand from people doing the type of job you hope to obtain, such as: how they obtained the position, what a typical day in the job entails, what would they do differently given the opportunity, etc.
- Participate in Job Shadowing to experience what a person in a given job does.
- Register for one of the Career & Professional Development Career Courses available at Notre Dame to develop your career building skills for life.

- Use Research Databases to conduct Company and Industry Research
- Utilize Diversity Resources & Programs available to many students
- Understand Employment Outlook and Trends to find out what industry and career areas are experiencing growth through the Department of Labor’s Occupational Outlook Handbook and the Career O’Net.
