Go IRISH FAQ

What jobs & internships are posted on Go IRISH?
This is the Career Center’s primary recruiting database. Jobs & internships posted on Go IRISH are a combination of positions posted by employers and alum who are targeting Notre Dame students, and positions offered to multiple schools on the NACElink Network.

How can I tell the difference?
Positions posted directly to the Notre Dame Career Center can be identified in the following ways:

Resume Drop
If it says Resume Drop in the title, this indicates that the position is posted to the Notre Dame Career Center. These employers will collect resumes and applications, but will not be interviewing for that position on campus. Employers will contact candidates directly if they are selected for phone or on-site interviews.

On-Campus Interviews
All employers who conduct on-campus interviews for jobs & internships are posted on Go IRISH. If the recruiter is interviewing on campus, the posting will NOT say Resume Drop and under the type column, students will see the letter P for pre-select. This means that after applicants apply for the position, employers will pre-select students to interview on-campus. Students who are selected for interviews are notified via email through Go IRISH and are given a brief window of time to sign up for an interview slot. Read the Go IRISH instructions carefully for details.

Keyword searches EID, FCE, WCIF
These indicate that the employer is attending one of our Career Fairs and will be recruiting for the positions with the keyword in the title. Many employers conduct interviews on campus the day after the fair, however, these will NOT be marked with a P in the type column. For Career Fair job and internship postings, check the application instructions for each position to determine whether or not the employer is interviewing the day after the fair.

EID- Engineering Industry Day
FCE- Fall Career Expo
WCIF- Winter Career & Internship Fair

NACElink multi-school postings
These will never have Resume Drop in the position title and will always say J under the type column. Many of the NACElink postings are high quality positions and should not be overlooked. Just be aware that there may not always be specific contact information.

Do they even read my application if it’s just a Resume Drop or NACElink multi-school posting?
Yes – not all organizations have the resources to come to campus to recruit and in some cases this is their primary method for recruitment.

What do INCND, NDL, and NDWP stand for?
These keywords indicate that the positions are internships affiliated with one of the following programs:

INCND – Indiana Careers
NDWP – Washington Program
NDL – Local Internships

How can I search by location?
Use the Advanced search option. Read the Go IRISH instructions carefully for details.

How can I search for internships that are open to Sophomores and First Year students?
Use the Advanced search option. Read the Go IRISH instructions carefully for details.

I either get too many matches or nothing at all. How can I best use the system?
Try using various combinations to make sure you achieve the best results. For example, you might want to conduct one search using the industries field, a separate search utilizing the major field, and a third search using the job function field.

I still can’t find anything in my location of choice. Where should I look?
Go IRISH is just one of many resources available to you through The Career Center. Be sure to take advantage of all of the job and internship databases available to you in our Career Center Online Library and meet with a Career Counselor to help you customize your search.

Can I get contact information for an employer even if there is not a position currently posted?
Yes. Go to the employer section of Go IRISH and put the organization name in the keyword search. If the employer has posted a position in the last two years, their contact information can be found on the right hand side under the box labeled contact information.
