Preparing for the Interview
The type of interview will depend on what kind of job you apply to. Many academic jobs, some government, and some industry positions will ask you to visit the campus, institution, or company for an interview. This may include making a presentation. If you are applying for a post-doc or research faculty position you will often be asked to give a general overview of your research and the future trajectory you expect your research to go at that particular institution including potential collaborators. If you are applying for a teaching position you may be asked to teach a class on a topic related to your research. If you are required to give a talk it is your responsibility to ask about the technology available for making presentations. Always make sure to post a backup version on a website and learn how to use the equipment prior to your talk.
