Resumes
Things to remember when writing a resume:
- Bulleted items should focus on skills and experiences that make you a strong candidate for the job you are applying for and not for the job you used to hold.
- Be clear, concise and consistent with your words and format.
- Quantify the results of your efforts whenever possible.
- Lead with your best information – that may be work experience, education or other information.
- The further you are from your Notre Dame graduation, information from college should be relevant to the prospective job or not be on the resume.
- Instead of an Objective, consider a Summary of Qualifications statement.

Cover Letters
Cover letters serve as a bridge between your resume and the specific job you are applying to. Therefore, there isn’t a “one size fits all” cover letter. A cover letter is also a reflection of your writing skills, so take time and care to proofread and review your document.
