Bridget Kibbe

Director of Undergraduate Career Counseling Services

Bridget Kibbe

Education: M.S.Ed in Counseling and Human Services, Indiana University South Bend; B.A. in English, Hillsdale College

Role at The Career Center: I am the Director of Undergraduate Career Counseling Services. My focus is counseling students in their career development process, especially those students who are undecided in their major or career path. I also manage the Engage & Explore teams, who are dedicated professionals focused in helping students find their path.

Professional Background: I have been with the Career Center since 2001 in various roles ranging from Office Coordinator, Office Manager, Career Counselor, Manager of the Engage team to my current role as Director of Undergraduate Career Counseling Services. My training in graduate school was focused in mental health counseling, allowing me to have my practicum and internship at Saint Mary's Counseling Center, as well as ND's Career Center. I am a certified practitioner for the MBTI and the Strong Interest Inventory.

About Me: When not at work you can usually find me working in my yard or garden. I love spending time with my family and our three misbehaved dogs!

Most unusual job I have had: Right after graduation from college I sold 'outdoor panels'- the fancy term for billboards!

What do I know now about career development that I wish I knew when I was in college? Students will receive lots of career advice from many well-intentioned individuals, but ultimately the career decision needs to be made by the student! They need to live their own lives. My parents wanted me to pursue a career in business rather than teaching/counseling because business was more 'practical'. I am happy to say after 22 years from graduating from college I went back to school and received my Master's in Counseling! Start exploring now the possibilities; Notre Dame is so blessed to have so many resources at your fingertips!

Remember- your career path is a winding, curvy road with surprises around every corner- embrace those surprises because you will learn from EVERY experience!!
